Its been sooo long since my last update! I'm still doing the job I was doing. Things aren't quite as bad as they were, but I'm still not making enough money. Rich and I are making about $300 a month less than what our bills are. That's before we buy groceries or put gas in our cars. Things are very tough right now and it makes me very depressed. Sometimes I feel like things would have been better if we hadn't left England. At least then we were making okay money. But then I wouldn't have been here when my Dad got sick, so....I don't know. I'm still looking for another job though, so maybe something will come along soon.

My Dad went back to my sister's house to stay for a while over the weekend. I'm really missing him, but enjoying having some just me and Rich time. He'll be back to stay with us some, but he missed my neice and wanted to spend some time with her. Also, he was bored at my house during the day and there is lots to do at my sister's house, so he decided to go back there.

Not much else going on here. I'm currently at work, so will try to get round to visit everyone sometime soon!! Hugs to you all!

Hope everyone's doing well

So I'm 3 weeks into my job now. I don't really like it very much and the pay is not very good, so, although I'm still going to continue with the job, I'm looking for something else. I'm not going to go into details about it, because it just depresses me, but I just don't like it.

Anyway, on to happier things. Rich and I went to Juliette, GA yesterday. That's where Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed. We had a really good time! We took some photos, which I've uploaded to my Flickr account. We had lunch at the Whistle Stop Cafe (yes, we had fried green tomatoes ).

Afterwards, we went back to Macon, GA and went to the cinema. We saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which I had been really looking forward to seeing after reading several people's blogs who had really enjoyed it. I was a little disappointed in it though. I found it much darker than the first one (which I absolutely loved). It wasn't that I didn't like it....just that I expected much more from it. I will go see the third film, though.

After the movie, we went to Barnes & Noble and had a wander around for about 2 hours. Rich got a book on philosophy and I picked up a British chic lit book I'd found and wanted to read by one of my favorite authors (Madeline Wickham, more commonly known by her pseudonym Sophie Kinsella). When we left we went to McDonald's and then we headed home. We got home about 11.30 pm last night. We had started the day about 6.30 am (we had breakfast with my mom and dad before we left), so it was a rather long day, but very enjoyable!

We're not doing much today, just watching a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit marathon on the USA Network. Got to go back to work tomorrow Not really looking forward to that, but...oh, well. Hopefully, I'll find time to post again later in the week!

Toodles!

So the week with Rachel (the niece) went okay. She behaved pretty well and, surprisingly, I did get paid! I learned lots about cartoons I've never heard of and learned to play Fisher Price Ice Cream Scoops of Fun (a game). We had fun and Rachel was only a little smart-mouthed, lol.

Last week and this one I've just been job hunting still. But that all seems to have paid off, as I have a job starting tomorrow!!!! I'm going to be working as a secretary/bookeeper with an accountant. Should be interesting if nothing else. My sister works with his wife and overheard that he was looking for someone. She got the details and passed them on to me and I called him, had an interview with him this morning and now I'm starting tomorrow! Funny how things work out sometimes.

Oh, well, more later. Toodles!!

Thought I'd try a new layout....whadaya think? I hope it looks alright. I decided to get rid of my tag board since it was continually being bombarded by spam.

I got my official "we're sorry we can't hire you" letter from the job I interviewed for last week (the one like Rich is doing). I still think its silly that they can't hire me due to Rich's supervisor and the supervisor for this position having the same supervisor. Just seems to me like it shouldn't matter. Rich and I wouldn't be in the same county (about 50 miles apart) or even on the same team. Oh, well. I'll keep looking.

I'm babysitting my 4 (nearly 5) year old neice this week. My sister is starting a new job this week. Rachel (the neice) is starting school (pre-K) the week after next and Debbie (my sister) got a job as a Teacher's Aide at the school Rachel's going to and she has pre-planning next week and no one to watch Rachel. So, she asked me if I could mind watching her and I said no. I like spending time with Rachel, even if she is a Little Miss Smartie Pants (I'm not kidding; the kid has an extremely smart little mouth). It would be nice if they would pay me though, but that's not gonna happen. Ah, well.

Hope everyone has a great week! Not sure when I'll be able to post again, but will try to drop in mid-week. Toodles!!

Things sure have been quite in Blogworld lately (at least at those places I visit). Where is everyone? No doubt enjoying their summer!

Not much has happened here. I'm still looking for a job. Rich is still enjoying his new job. I actually had a job interview on Monday for the same job Rich is doing only in a different county and I think the interview went well, except they told me that since Rich's supervisor and the supervisor for this position would have the same supervisor (i.e. two rungs up), they couldn't hire me for it. It is apparently policy in the State of Georgia. So, I'll keep on looking. I have two applications out for Legal Secretary positions for 2 different law firms, so maybe something will come from one of those.

The only other noteworthy thing I can think of is that Rich and I auditioned for Deal or No Deal. We probably won't get a call back, but it was fun anyway There were hundreds of people there! If anything does develop from it, I'll let you all know!

That's all for now!

Its been a long while since I updated, but its also been a very busy time! I have lots of news.

To all of you who prayed for/were thinking of my dad, thank you very much. He spent 9 weeks in the hospital, 8 of those in ICU (Intensive Care Unit). He was transferred to St Joseph's Hospital in Savannah (a much larger hospital) after the first 2 weeks he spent in the hospital. He has now been home for a week and a half. He is staying with Rich and I since we live in the same town where his doctors are and he has a nurse, nurse's aide and physical therapist who visit him each day to help him recuperate. He has to walk with a walker since he spent so long in bed without walking. We're so happy he's doing so much better. We really didn't think he was going to make it for a while there.

In other news, Rich has a new job. He is working as a Right From the Start Medicaid Specialist. He determines Medicaid eligibility for children under age 18 and pregnant women. He's only doing his training at the moment, but so far he thinks he's really going to enjoy it. The insurance business just wasn't working out. It wasn't brining in enough money, so we had to look at other things. I'm job hunting now, as well. I have around 30 to 40 applications out, so hopefully something will come before too long.

Rich also has his driver's license now and his own car! He now owns a white Dodge Neon. He's very proud of his car and he loves driving. I still have my Chevy Tahoe, though we usually take Rich's car when we go somewhere as it uses less gas. I still love my truck though

In early May I had my annual checkup at the health department. I had to have a tetanus shot and a Hepatitis B shot to bring me up to date on my immunisations. Also got some information on trying to conceive, since Rich and I are trying for a baby. We also got some bad news. The nurse diagnosed me as having Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which is the number one cause of infertility in women She said that it didn't mean that we wouldn't be able to conceive, but that it would be that much harder. There is treatment for PCOS, but the nurse was unable to prescribe it. It must be prescribed by a doctor. So, just as soon as Rich's insurance kicks in, I plan to visit the doctor to see what we can do about it. We had hoped to be able to conceive before the end of the year, but we'll just have to see what the year brings.

I think that about covers what's been going on with us over the last couple of months. I hope everyone else has been doing well. I'm going to try to visit my friends this afternoon and see how everyone else is doing! Bye for now!

Just a very quick post to let you all know that my dad is in the hospital. He went in very early Thursday morning with severe stomach pains. They admitted him and introduced a tube into his stomach through his nose to pump it after finding a very large mass with fluid around it. We were told to hope for the best but expect the worst. The doctor seemed to think it was stomach cancer. My mom asked him what we should tell my brother who lives in New Jersey and the doctor said "I'd tell him to come home for a visit" in very somber tones. On Friday, they moved my dad to ICU and put him on a ventilator to help him breathe, as he was having a lot of trouble getting any oxygen. Yesterday (Saturday), they did an endoscopy and found a very large ulcer in the base of his stomach partially covering the opening to the small intestines. The ulcer was perforated and allowing food into his abdomen. They immediately went to surgery to remove the part of his stomach and intestines with the ulcer. He's now back in ICU and was stable this morning.

Its still a very long road ahead. He will be in the hospital for at least another week and they still have to biopsy the ulcer to see if its cancerous. The good news is that the surgeon saw no other signs of cancer in his liver, pancreas or other important organs. However, they do still have to check for cancer as an ulcer left this long usually turns into cancer. We're very hopeful though. I'll keep you updated when I know more! Please keep my dad in your prayers/thoughts.

*Blegh*

Today has been an awful day

Rich had to go to Savannah today for training and to make some phone calls, so I went with him. The day started out by me not being able to find the shirt I wanted to wear, so I wasn't real happy about that. Then Rich's day of calling went really badly. No one seemed to be answering and he only got 3 appointments for this week. So we decided to come home and on the way home I got pulled over by the police and got a speeding ticket. Apparently, I had been doing 41 in a school zone where the speed limit was 25. I hadn't noticed entering a school zone and, despite the fact that I drive this road at least once a week, I had never noticed it was a school zone. I still don't know where the school is!! So when we got home I called to find out how much the ticket would cost me. Its going to cost $140!!!!! That's really ridiculous!!!

After that I just laid down and took a nap. Rich continued to make phone calls, but got no where and then, just after 9 pm, he got a phone call from one of his 3 appointments cancelling. They want to look around some more, as they think that the insurance Rich is selling lacks something.

All in all, not a great day. Let's hope the week gets better.

On the plus side, I uploaded some new photos to my Flickr account which you can find here. You have to be one of my friends to see them though!

Well, I'm off now to get some rest. Something to look for in the future on my blog is a link to my "Trying to Conceive" Blog. Rich and I have decided to start really trying for a baby, so I'll be getting that up soon!!!

Everyone have a good week!

Hello

Sorry its been so long since I posted. Its been such a hectic 3 months!! Rich and I are now living in the USA. We flew here on January 11, 2006 and have been here ever since. We now have a vehicle (a Chevy Tahoe), a house and Rich has a job. He's now a self-employed, licensed agent of Mega Life and Health Insurance. I am working as his Marketing Manager (although, unpaid, hehe).

We're living one town over from my mom, so....its close, but not too close. We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that we're renting. Since I've not been in the US in nearly 4 years and Rich has never lived here, we can't buy a home until we have 2 years accounts. So that's what we're working on.

Rich is happy. He misses his family, but he loves it here, so that's great. I'm really glad to be home. Its been nice to spend time with my family and know that I'm not leaving them again in a short period of time.

The last 3 months haven't been real easy, but hopefully they'll soon get better. Our laptop decided to die on us, so we're borrowing my mom's as Rich needs it for work. Hopefully we'll soon be able to get him a new one. As it is, we're just waiting on him to get his first sale so that we can start earning some money!!

I hope to be able to post more often now, but bear with me if my posts come with several days (or even weeks) between them. I hope to get around to visit all my friends today, but if I miss anyone, I'll be by to see you soon!!

I feel sick I had just typed a huge long post that was an update and then I lost it!!! Rich has his medical on Friday. We're a little nervous about it, but its gonna be fine :)

Isabel (the dog/aka Pog/aka Pogger) had her vaccinations last week (both her annual vaccinations, which were due, and her rabies vaccination, which she needs to move across to the US). The vet suggested we contact DEFRA to determine what she needed in order to go to the States. They said that, as far as leaving the country, as long as she wasn't returning to the UK they really had no requirements for her. The state of Georgia requires that she have a rabies vaccination and the airline requires a health certificate stating she's in good health, which must be issued within 10 days of travel. So, everything but the health certificate is done.

We also got her IATA (International Air Transport Association) approved pet carrier. It was selling for £120 in Pets At Home, so I decided to look on Ebay. I'm so glad I did!! I found the same carrier, brand new, for £51.99 including postage and packing!!! So the Pogger is completely ready to go save for her health certificate, which we'll get closer to time to move :D

Not long to go now!! I've put a countdown thingy up to track the days until our IR1 interview date. Once we have the visa and know its approved, I'll put a countdown to when we're moving!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the week :D

Just a very quick note.....Rich has his Visa Interview on December 2!!!! So, on Friday I had Rich ring the Visa Enquiry Line to find out where they were with our case. The operator proceeds to tell him that they're waiting on our checklist. Rich told her we sent it in nearly 4 weeks ago by Recorded Delivery. She said they haven't received it, although Royal Mail have confirmed it was delivered. She suggested that we re-submit the information via email and post. So we scanned in the information and emailed it to them on Friday and we also posted it out again by Recorded Deliver (again). Hopefully they'll get it and we'll hear back soon.

Found a new forum called Visa Journey for those going through the Marriage Based Visa process. Another person on their who sent his information to the London Consulate on the same day as us and was told they hadn't received his information got his interview appointment yesterday, so I still hold out hope we'll hear from them soon. I'm a little depressed about the whole thing though.

Btw, I've done a bit of an update to our website. I've added some Immigration information (its still ongoing though, so please bear with me while I work on it). Rich and I sent our checklist form off to the Immigrant Visa Section of the US Embassy today saying that we have all the necessary documents. Now its just to wait until we hear back from them with the date for Rich's medical and interview date(s). So fingers crossed!

Not much else happening. I had another bad stomach attack Friday night. I've been in a bit of pain since then (I think I got bruised inside or pulled a muscle because it hurts when I breathe deep or cough/sneeze/move!). Been doing a bit of Christmas shopping. Not a lot else.

Oh, I fib (accidentally)! Rich had his last day of work on Friday last week. He's now (for the moment) a stay-at-home husband, hehe! He's going to take a bit of time off for relaxing, then he'll do a bit of repair work on the house that needs to be done before we leave it and a bit of packing, then (if we're still here) he'll look to do some temping in sales work. Its really weird having him not working.

Found a new great graphics site: Angela's Doodle Pad. She's got some really cute stuff!! I'm buying some graphics from her to update my personal website.

Rich and I are still working on The Stone puzzles. We've solved 145 of the 208 currently available. I'm really enjoying learning about the different things covered in it.

Off to visit some other blogs now! Well, I went to get the results from my tests on Wednesday of this week and had a real butt of a doctor. I won't go into the details, because I'll just get really angry again, but the doctor told me I was fat and needed to lose weight. Not that I was overweight, but that I was fat and that I was fat because I was lazy and ate all the time. He suggested that, even though I've joined a gym (5 months ago), that I wasn't doing anything. I know that I'm overweight. I'll be the first to admit it, but he was a real jerk about it and being very rude.

As for the results, even though I asked the doctor point-blank twice, I still don't know if we miscarried. He refused to tell me. He did say that I have a cyst in my ovary and that he would be referring me to a gynacologist. I also have gallstones and will need a referral for that. However, fingers crossed, I won't be here to see a doctor in this country and will see my doctor back in the States.

In other news, I've finally opened my graphics shop again. You can visit The Squiggle Shoppe and let me know what you think, if you like! Anyone who would be so kind as to link to it and help me advertise I would be forever indebted to, as well!

That's all for me for now. A lot has happened since my last post. I'll try to remember it all.

First of all (for those in suspense), the secret was only that Rich and I were going to the US for 2 weeks to visit my family, but it was a surprise for them. They didn't know we were going until we arrived in my hometown! They were very shocked, but happy to see us. We had a very good time and got quite a bit done as far as looking at the job and house market there and getting some other things sorted.

Since we got back we've sorted out my income tax returns for 2003 and 2004 (I didn't know that I had to fill them out since I haven't worked in the US, but apparently you do! So, I had to go back to all my employers for the last 2 years....I did a lot of temping when I first started working here.....to get copies of my wages so that we could complete the tax returns) and took a trip down to the US Embassy in London to get Rich's passport certified. We've also requested his police certificate and had his Visa photographs taken. Just waiting for a few things to come back then we can send off the letter saying we have everything and are ready for our interview!

I've been having some more medical problems. I'm still having a lot of pain in my stomach. This is the same thing that was bothering me in February, March and April. I've seen the doctor again and he's increased my medicine and sent me for a sonogram of my gallbladder. He thinks I may have gallstones. He also requested a scan of my uterus. I had a really bad menstrual cycle in July (3 heavy weeks) and was in a lot of pain, which I don't normally have. It was very unusual and the doctor thinks that I suffered a miscarriage. I had those scans done on Wednesday of last week and should have the reports back in a couple of weeks.

Rich and I have been trying to deal with the thought that we may have miscarried. We've both been quite upset, but don't really know how to react, as we aren't sure that's what happened. However, the doctor feels fairly confident. It is quiet a painful time for us. We've been talking about starting a family for a few months, but had thought we may wait until we were living in the US. So, although not planned, the baby would definitely have been a wonderful thing. We're going through the grieving process in our own way.

In other news, Rich had applied for voluntary redudency from his job a few months ago and it was denied. However, he got a letter about a week ago offering him the redundency (as they didn't have as many people to accept it as they thought they would) and he decided to accept it. So his last day of work will be September 30 as it stands.

That's all I can think of now and I need to be off to bed. I shall try to visit some blogs this week. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi folks!

Wow! Has it really been 2 1/2 months since I posted last?!? I do feel a lot better now. I just needed a bit of time offline. Thanks for all the posts of support! I really appreciate it :)

So, what's happened in the last couple of months? Well, Rich and I have joined a gym. We're really enjoying it and already feeling a lot more energised and fit. We have an appointment today with our personal trainer. I dread those appointments, but they do me good. I shall keep you updated on how the weight loss and toning up is going.

In other news, I have a secret!!! Its a secret because none of my family know yet. I won't say it on here at the moment, just in case someone has a look! I'll post it next week, but if you'd like to know what it is now email me. I'm really missing home, I'm not feeling very well physically and I want something, but can't figure out what it is. I'm just very unsatisfied at the moment. *Lynn feels very sorry for herself, so please ignore her pity party*

Rich and I are thinking of going to eat at a Mexican restaurant and then to the cinema. Think we may see Man of the House, but not sure. We've spent the morning working on the next quiz. Not much else going on.

Its been very quite in blogland lately. I've just about decided to give up on my blog. My family don't really visit it very often and I don't often have anything exciting to post. Most of my online acquaintances are too busy to visit, so I don't know. Will have a think about it and decide what to do.

Nothing really seems to be going right lately. I hope that Rich and I will be able to take a holiday in May. We're looking at maybe going somewhere in England so that we can take Isabel (the dog) with us. Maybe to Norfolk or somewhere. Don't know yet. Perhaps we just need a change of scenery.

I'm off now to get ready to go out. I hope you'll all visit and take the quiz!

I'm still feeling a bit sickly today. My rib still hurts (obviously), but my stomach is feeling somewhat better. Let's see....what's happened since last month....

Well, I went to the doctor and he had seven tests run on me. I got the results back today and he still can't determine what's wrong with me. He's changed my medication again and I'm going to see how it works. I've been in quite a lot of pain for the last month (he changed my medicine last month from what the hospital had given me and it really didn't work at all). Hopefully, the new medicine will work. I really hope we can determine what's wrong, but since we're not doing anymore tests, I don't know that we will find out what the problem is.

Also, I took a tumble down the stairs at work on the 30th March and was in quite a lot of pain. I was still hurting terribly on Friday of last week, so I called NHS Direct and they sent me to GP's On Call who determined I have a fractured rib. Let me tell you it hurts!!!!! And there's nothing they can do for it except give me pain relievers. I had been taking Co-Codemal, but it wasn't helping much, so the doctor gave me some stronger pain relievers today. They are really strong and knock me out entirely. I'm just waking up from them now. He's also said I can't go into work for a week. Which is a bit of a problem, since we're getting ready for an audit in two weeks time! I've told work that if they need me to work on anything from home, to bring it to me and I'll do the best I can.

We're at a slight standstill with Rich's visa application at the moment, since we found out that I should have been filing my Income Tax for the whole time I've been in this country! I just assumed that since I wasn't working in the US that I didn't have to file them, but I do. So now we have to go back and figure up what I've earned and fill out the paperwork before we can carry on with Rich's visa application. We're working on the paperwork now.

Not much else going on here. A belated Happy Birthday wish to Gem for yesterday and an early Happy Birthday to my Dad for tomorrow!

Buh-bye for now!

Found at Jennie's blog.

The Commonly Confused Words Test

You scored 100% Beginner, 93% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 72% Expert!
You have an extremely good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels' questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don't use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score.

Good to know that I use most of my words correctly!

Not much to say here today. I'm not in a very good mood and the day just seems to have pulled out all stops to tap dance on my nerves. I'm feeling very down lately. I'm trying to put together a website to go with a group I created at the end of last year and I want it to be like a club sort of thing with activities for people and such like, but I can't seem to find the right graphics to use for it. And, since I can't find any I like, I want to draw my own graphics for it, but I've got no inspiration! Haven't had for the last few months.

I know it's silly, but I just can't stop crying today. Sorry for being so down. Maybe I'll be cheerier tomorrow.

Hi Folks!

Sorry its been so long since my last post! We had to send our laptop off to be repaired due to some accidental damage (I had the laptop in my lap and the puppy decided she wanted to be in my lap, so she jumped up and damaged the computer). Anyway, its back now and, not perfect, but physically better (the spacebar is still not working correctly, which makes typing annoying).

So, I got a response back from Channel 5, but it didn't really say much. Here it is:

Dear Lynn

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding The Most Outrageous TV Moments Ever.

We were sorry to read your comments and to learn that you were so displeased by the remarks made by the presenters. We can assure you that it was not our intention to promote ‘Anti American’ feelings or insult the American people.

We have logged your comments in the Viewer Enquiries Report, which is circulated throughout the company. Also, your complaint will be noted in the quarterly report to our regulator. Commercial television is regulated in the UK by Ofcom (the Office of Communications).

Thank you for your interest in Five.

Yours sincerely

VIEWER ADVISOR

In other news.....

The US Embassy approved my I-130 Petition for Rich to apply for a visa to the States on the 10th of February. Since we only sent the paperwork off on the 28th of January and had it registered as filed on the 2nd of February, I thought this was extremely quick and I'm very pleased.

Today we've received the actual paperwork for Rich to check off as he gets the things we need and then we'll send it back to them and await our interview date. We're very excited! It will take a couple of weeks (maybe longer) to get everything together, but we're going to start trying to get it all ready.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day here in England and we're off to my mother-in-law's house. I'm cooking a roast chicken meal for her and we'll be spending the day with her. We've got her both Bridget Jones movies on DVD and a mug with cats on it. Mother's Day in the US isn't until May, so I'll send my mom something then.

I had my hair cut today and blonde highlights put in. I think it looks good. I'll try to take a photo later in the week and post it.

I'm a little worried lately. For the last few months, I've had really bad heartburn and, every once in a while, I'll be in extreme pain in my chest area or upper stomach. A few weeks ago I had to go to the hospital with it and they diagnosed Gastritus. Well, it happened again last night. I was in so much pain I could hardly breathe! It finally passed, but not until I had been sick several times (so much so that I couldn't get any air into my lungs at all). I've got to make an appointment to see the doctor, but I really hate going to the doctor! I'm extremely nervous about it, but as soon as I know something, I'll post here.

Well, that's pretty much it for now! Post again soon!

I am utterly and completed disgusted at what I have seen on Channel 5 tonight. Rich and I were watching a program entitled "The Most Outrageous TV Moments Ever" and the commentators were so incredibly anti-American!! It was completely unbelievable. And then, as if that wasn't bad enough, Vanessa Feltz made a comment that made me angrier than I have ever in my whole life been. She was commenting on something that Ali G had done in the US (in the South, obviously, because you know we're all redneck hicks *sarcasm*), and she said that it was deserved by those "cretinous" people in "that part of America"!!! I was sooooo shocked that this was actually broadcast on national television!! I have sent a complaint to Channel 5. Here it is below.

Dear Sirs,

I'm writing to express my anger and disgust at this programme. Not the "outrageous" clips - which ranged from the frankly tame to the merely unpleasant without inspiring more than a shudder from me - but the grossly offensive and ill-judged remarks of your motley collection of commentators. In particular, as an American living in Britain, I was increasingly incensed by the steady accumulation of slanders against my country and my countrymen.

I understand it is the British custom to make mock of Johhny Foreigner and since 1776 you have, as a nation, taken particular delight in caricaturing the "Yanks" (another term I find personally offensive having been born and raised in the South); before moving over here, I had a sense of humour about it. But it isn't funny, any more than it's funny to laugh at people in wheelchairs or turbans - two targets the likes of Vanessa Feltz are far too pompously PC to take aim at.

I resent in the strongest possible manner the ubiquitous double standard that, on the one hand, allows programmes such as this to praise the "tolerance" that makes incest, blasphemy and psychiatric illness acceptable viewing, and on the other, peddles a line of anti-American propaganda that is no different, and certainly no better, than the isolationist rhetoric of a Hitler or a Mussolini. I'm all in favour of tolerance where it is a product of an educated outlook; but tolerance as a mask for prejudice is despicable.

You have a responsibility as a broadcaster - to paraphrase Lord Reith - to educate, entertain and inform your audience. You do bear part of the responsibility for every single person I will meet tomorrow, and next week, and next year who agreed when they heard Vanessa Feltz say how "cretinous" the people from "that part of America" (that is, my part of America) are. Would you have aired her comments had they been about black people, or Muslims? And, although it's easy to retort that this question is itself somehow prejudiced, that doesn't change the fact that your answer would be no.

Racism doesn't become more acceptable because I speak your language with a "funny" accent; it doesn't become more acceptable because I come from a more moral background than your oh-so-trendy talking heads. It's ugly and it's cowardly and it has no place on television. I hope you bear that in mind in future.

Yours more in sorrow than anger,

Lynn Hall

Do you think this was acceptable to send? Please let me know what you all think of the letter and, if any of you saw the comments on the programme, do you agree? Do you think there should have been some editing or moderating of the comments? I'm still completely flabbergasted and extremely hurt by these comments. Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about this one incident if I didn't see it on television or in newspapers or on the street every single day! There is not a single day that goes by that I don't have someone make a very rude comment about me either being American or from the Southern US. I don't know how much more I can take of it before I really let someone know exactly how I feel about it!!!! And that won't be pretty!

Sorry for the long delay between posts.

Let me begin by explaining my last post. You know how for most everyone there's that one person you had a thing for when you were younger. That one who got away, as it were. And, although you completely love the one you're with, you always sort of wonder what happened to that person.

Well, for me that person was Jared. Absolutely crazy about him my senior year of high school. My heart was set on being with him. But he moved in January after I turned 18. I saw him again a year and a half later on the 4th of July, 1998. I haven't seen him since then, but I always wondered what happened to him. I even attempted on a few occasions to find him, all to no avail. I never really got too upset, always thinking that I'd have plenty of time in the future to find him and see how his life had turned out. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Rich completely and would never do anything to jeopardize our marriage, but I did want to see how Jared was. My love for Rich didn't make me stop caring for Jared. It just meant that I cared in a different way.

So, I thought, not to worry. Years from now, I'll find him again and get to meet his wife and children.

But now that will never happen. I found out from my mom (who had seen a relative of Jared's and asked about him) that he had joined the US Marines and had been sent to Iraq. He fought out there for over a year and was doing well (not injured or anything). He came home in May 2004 for his little brother's graduation. The night of the graduation they went out after the ceremony to celebrate and on the way home Jared and his little brother had a car accident.

Jared broke his neck and died. At the age of 24 it was all over. And I will never get the chance to see him again and tell him how proud I was that he got his life straightened out and became someone he could be proud to be.

Even now I feel the need to cry for the loss of a good friend. But life goes on for those of us still here. And Jared was an organ donor, so in the end he did even more good by saving the lives of several people.

So, if you would, take just a moment to have a thought for a man who came from very little, but rose above it and made a huge difference in the lives of many people, including mine. I know I'll never forget him.

To let you know what else has been happening with us lately, we went to the States for Christmas and had a great time (I didn't find out about Jared until I had come back to the UK). Rich really enjoyed Christmas with my family and I know my family loved having us there.

In other news, Rich and I have finally filed for his spousal visa to the US!!! We filed last Friday and hopefully should have an interview date within the next 4 months or so! Cross your fingers for us and I'll keep you posted as we get more information.

New layout. I haven't been feeling so well. My stomach has been a bit off.

Anyway....tomorrow is my birthday!!! I'll be.......26 *sigh*. Now I realise 26 isn't that old. What bothers me is the fact that my birthdays keep seeming to creep up faster and faster. I mean, has it really been that long since I went to the Fleetwood Mac concert? For those of you who were reading this then, yeah, its been a whole year!! Can you remember watching England win the Rugby Union World Cup? Johnny Wilkinson kicking that fantastic goal? Yup, a whole darn year ago.

Also, Rich and I have our 2nd anniversary on Tuesday. Has it really been 2 years since we got married???? Nope, I was blind to it all. I was thinking how wonderful it all was....I found a job I love, Bush won the presidency, I'm going home for Christmas, it'll soon be my birthday and then my anniversary....What could possibly go wrong?

On Sunday, our boiler broke down. Wonderful. No hot water. No heat. Fortunately, our landlord had someone look at it on Monday and it got fixed. That did mean that both Rich and I had to miss work though. I had to take the dog out while the repairman came in to fix the boiler. Loads of fun since it was pouring rain out. The poor pup and I got soaked to the skin. But at least the boiler is fixed now, so I guess it could have been worse.

I've been working lately on a Christmas fun page, which can be found on my website. I've still got to add a few bits to it, so I'll let you know when its ready. I think I'm going to have a fun page every month. What do you think? Would anyone be interested in it?

Hope you're all having a great week so far! Oh, only 5 more weeks until I go home for Christmas!!! The organised display for our area was tonight rather than last night. There were loads of fireworks all over last night, though!

Tonight was really great! We met up with my work mates David and Katryn and David's wife and children. Then we went over to the park where it was being held. The bonfire was big and warm. Really nice :D. We then pigged out on goodies you can only get at fairs and things like this. Toffee apples, hot dogs (well, Rich and I had hot dogs.....Kat didn't as she's vegetarian and David and Annette and the kids didn't want them), flying saucers (mmmmmmm....sherbet) and 7-Up. Then the fireworks started. It was fantastic!!! Really spectacular. I had a great time.

Not much else has been going on. I got my hair cut really short. I'll try to get a photo and get it put on later.

Ta-ta for now!

Congratulations to President Bush and Vice-President Cheney! Rather a boring day.

On Saturday we're supposed to be going with Rich's Mum down to Sheffield to the new Hobbycraft store that's opened. I can't wait!!! Its going to be a fantastic day! Then we're out in the evening with some friends of ours for a meal. Its official now! My brother is going home for Christmas as well!! Well, at least he'll be arriving on the 27th of December. So not there for Christmas day, but there for the Christmas period!

I'm so excited! Its only 50 days after today until we fly to the US! I've started making my Christmas card list and emailing my online friends to get their addresses. If I've missed anyone, please don't take offense.....it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you. It just means I'm a ditz and missed emailing you. If you want to exchange Christmas cards with me, email me with your address and I'll send you an email back with mine!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!

Btw, I'm getting a bit tired of this blogskin and I really miss the country graphics for each season (also, it doesn't really seem to have an affect on how often I blog like I thought it would), so I'm thinking after Halloween (its too late to change it now)I might go back to country season graphics for my blog. Sorry about being MIA lately. There's been an awful lot going on in my life lately and I haven't really had a chance to be online much.

I've got plenty of news though!

Well, despite my love of working in Customer Services at Morrison's, they are still moving. It would take me about 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back from where they're moving to (Bradford) so I decided I needed to look for a job elsewhere.

Thus came my discovery of a job advert for a PA (Personal Assitant)/Secretary for a financial firm. So I applied, three days later had an interview, four days after that was offered the job! I accepted and I've been there for just over 3 weeks now. I love it! Its quite a small firm and the people are lovely. Very friendly atmosphere. I'm extremely happy with it!

In other news, Rich and I have booked a flight to the US for Christmas and New Year! We fly out on the 16th of December with an overnight stop in Amsterdam, arriving in the US on the 17th of December. We fly back on the 4th of January. So nearly 3 weeks in the US! I can't wait. Only 54 days after today! Hooray!

Also, as a lot of you know, my mom has been living and working in Florida ever since I moved to the UK 2 years ago. She's been quite unhappy there, as she doesn't know many people and really misses home. Well, yesterday she got some fantastic news. She's being transferred back home! She's to start work at the new store on November 13th! This also means that Rich and I won't have to divide our holiday time between Florida and Georgia this time. We can just stay in Georgia and get to spend plenty of time with my mom and dad rather than part of the time with one and the rest with the other.

I'm just not sure yet if my brother, who lives with my mom in Florida, will be moving back to Georgia or not. He really likes it there and its been a new start for him. So I don't know what he'll decide to do. He's a grown man of 38 though, so I guess he can make his own decisions!

Also found out that my oldest brother (40) and his family might be home for Christmas as well! If he gets to come home, it'll be the first time my whole family has been together for Christmas in over 10 years! It'll also be the first time all 4 of us kids have been together since my high school graduation in 1997. So, fingers crossed that Mike will get to go home for Christmas as well!

Lots to look forward to! Hope everyone is doing well! Going to try to visit a few blogs now. Toodles!

Hi there everyone!

Still loving my new job! Mine has been okay. Woke up about 10am this morning to a text message on my mobile from Gem, wishing me a Happy 4th :) Rich and I then had a lazy morning watching television. About 1pm we had some hot dogs for lunch (something slightly American, lol). Spoke to my Mom about 2pm our time (9am her time). This afternoon we watched the Wimbledon Men's Final, hoping to see Andy Roddick beat Roger Federer, however we were disappointed. It was a good match though. This evening for dinner we're having grilled hamburgers with all the trimmings, french fries (chips, lol), and watermelon for dessert. I'll be ringing my Dad and Sister soon to wish them a Happy 4th. I'm feeling very homesick again today. Wish I could be home with them.

To answer the questions about if (and when) we're going to move back to the US, we ARE planning to move back. Hopefully (*fingers crossed*) at the end of July (when I get my first pay check from the new job) we're going to be filing our I-130 Petition for Rich to go to the US. After this, we'll just have to wait and see how long it takes. We will definitely be here until December, as Rich's Gran will celebrate her 90th birthday on the 15th of December and we're having a family celebration for it, but we are planning to be in the US for Christmas anyway. It would be really nice if when we flew over for Christmas we were also bringing our things to move there, but I'm not really that optimistic about it. I have thought about going on over and then filing from the US for Rich to join me, but I really don't think I could bear to be away from him. Maybe that's not the healthiest way to be, but we were apart for so long before we got married and now we've lived together for 2 years, I think the distance would just tear me apart.

Anyway, I've got a lot of new projects in the works (I always do, a lot of which never come about, but I have to keep my mind on something to keep from going crazy). I'll post more about them as I get them started. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and a fabulous 4th of July. If you've got fireworks to let off (please be extra cautious, as you all mean a great deal to me) or if you're going to an organised display, don't forget to think about me!

Be sure to check out my (4th of) July doll here!

Hi everyone!

Well, I've started my new job now. Its okay. I don't really like ringing people, but then I've got to do something! I just can't believe how rude people can be. It really gets me upset sometimes.

I don't think it helps that I've been really depressed and homesick lately. No offence to my British friends, but I really don't want to be here! I miss my home and my family (not to mention my friends and, oh, the food!) I just want to be around people I know and love, where I feel comfortable and accepted. I haven't really made many friends here (at least not any that are in the same town as me.....I've got a few scattered about the country). I just don't feel like I belong here. I hate our house (we rent and it really is awful) and I don't want a job doing telesales/telefundraising, but that seems to be the only jobs anyone will hire me for, despite the fact that I have 7 years experience as a secretary/PA!!!!

Anyhow, enough of my complaining. I've launched a new collection with my graphics. Its called the Little People Collection. You can check out my first Purchaseware Adoption here. I'm really pleased with it! I'm in the process of getting my new cards and graphic site up and will post the link when its ready. In the meantime, if you choose to purchase the adoption, you'll be able to do so from the page listed! Btw, if any of you would like to post a link to the page on your blog or website, please feel free to do so :D I'm always up for any extra (free) advertising!! LOL!

Guess I'll try to go and visit a few blogs now!

Btw, I've created a new Yahoo group for those who enjoy all types of crafts, from needlecraft to scrapbooking, web graphics to beadwork. Sorry I haven't posted since then, but I've had a stressful time of it lately. I've been suffering from migraines a lot more than usual recently. Normally I get them every few months, but in the last 3 weeks I've had 6 migraines! So, I've been to the doctor and he's prescribed some medication to try to prevent the migraines from coming on. Also, he told me to try to keep myself out of stressful environments and to try to find a new job, as my unhappiness in the current one is not helping. So I'm still looking for a new job and going for interviews and all that fun stuff.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm sick to death of what I've been hearing in the news and on other people's blogs lately about the whole war and terrorist attacks. Normally I keep my mouth shut, but not anymore. Its time I stand up and speak my mind. I'm sure there are lots of people I consider to be friends who will disagree with me and some who may not speak to me again after this, but if that's the case, then they weren't friends in the first place.

Everyone is going on and on about how the terrorist attacks that happened in Spain this last week would not have happened had the Spanish government not supported the war in Iraq last year. That's bullshit! The Spanish people then voted out their government and, while I'll be the first to admit I have no right to criticize their choice of government since I've never lived there, I do find it disgraceful the way that they've been all apologetic to the terrorists, saying that they didn't want to support the war, their government went against their will. Wake up people!!!!! The attacks would have happened had you supported the war or not!!!!!!!! These maniacs are TERRORISTS!! They don't do things fairly! Don't apologize to them for their actions! They are the ones who choose to destroy innocent lives!

I fully supported (and still support) the war in Iraq. I think it was the only possible course of action. Now I know a lot of you will disagree with me and that's fine. That's your right. But its my right to feel the way I feel. And I think that the actions taken by George Bush and Tony Blair (on this matter at least) were the correct ones. I don't think they made a bad decision about going after Suddam Hussein. We vote these people in as our leaders on the assumption that they have more facts than we do and, most of the time, more sense to make these decisions. I don't trust half of the world's population to be smart enough to make the decisions because I feel most people are idiots. I for one am glad that Iraq is now without its tyrannical leader. I feel safer when I go to sleep at night, not fearing when he may attack (because I fully believe he would have, given time).

Yes, I do fear that there will be more terrorist attacks, but, unlike most people, I don't plan to bow down to the terrorists. I don't plan on apologizing for things that have happened that I support and I don't plan on acting as though I or my fellow countrymen have done anything wrong, because we haven't.

If you don't support freedom, then you support terrorism. There is no way around it. You're either for the free world and whatever it takes to make it that way, or you're for terrorism and the people who create it. And those people are not the American or the English or the former Spanish governments.

Now having said that, if you support freedom that's fantastic. If you support terrorism, then I have no time for you.

On a lighter note, Rich and I will be off on our holiday later this week!

Even more fun from Sarah's blog (who originally got it from Erin)

My very British name is Chloe Wilkinson.
Take The Very British Name Generator today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Name Generator Generator.

Oooh, just found this on Jennie's site:

How well do you know Lynn?

Ooops, I've been a bad blogger again! Anyway, I'm back today! Not much happening here. Rich's 28th birthday is tomorrow. Haven't bought him anything that he doesn't know about, so I might have to be sneaky and pick something up during the day tomorrow. Not sure what though. Any ideas?

Just a couple of weeks now til we go to the US! I'm really looking forward to it! I know it hasn't been that long since we were there before, but it feels like its been a lot longer. I'm looking forward to seeing my Mom and Dad. Also to seeing my nieces, sister and brother.

Made a few more cards and sold them. I'm hoping to have enough together by the end of May to have a stall on our local market one weekend. Shall have to see how things are going.

Oooh, Rich and I discovered a fantastically silly show last night! Some of you from the US may have already seen it as its one of the reality shows from the US. Normally I probably wouldn't like it, but I'm just finding it loads of fun to laugh at and it does have its good moments. Its called "Paradise Hotel". Great fun! We'll be leaving on March 26 and will be in the US until April 11. I'm really excited about it! Just a little worried about the tickets as they're e-tickets this time. Anyone else used Expedia? Or had e-tickets? Have you had any problems with them? I'd really appreciate any reassurance anyone could give me!

Well, I guess I need to head to bed now. Whoo.....back to the h*ll whole I call work!

So I thought I would try something a bit different. This way I don't have to continually change my graphics and I'm more inclined to actually post, lol!

My back is much better, thanks to all who asked :) Spent two days off work and felt much better for that, but hated it that much worse when I had to go back. I'm not really looking forward to tomorrow, but I know I have to go in and just try to make the best of it and work through it.

No word from the job I had applied for and interviews are tomorrow, so I don't guess I got short-listed. Well, I'll just keep applying for other jobs.

Off to make some cards now. I've sort of started a mini business making handmade cards. People are just snatching them up! I hope to add a place online soon to take orders. Will hopefully start that up soon!

I'll be around to visit everyone sometime soon!
